Orbis DATA LOG, reference OB174012, is a digital time switch for 230 V designed to automate the switching on and off of an electrical circuit through daily or weekly schedules. It features a 16(10) A changeover contact, capacity for up to 40 programs, a backlit LCD display and Bluetooth communication, offering an advanced solution for controlling lighting, irrigation, shop windows, illuminated signs, fountains and other electrical equipment.
Its 2-module modular format allows direct installation on DIN rail inside the electrical panel. In addition to conventional on/off switching, it supports short-duration pulses, repetitive cycles, special holiday periods, automatic summer-winter time changeover and temporary or permanent manual operation.
The DATA LOG allows up to 40 programs to be configured to adapt circuit operation to the actual schedules of each installation. A different schedule can be set depending on the day of the week, or several days can be grouped when they need to use the same schedules.
This flexibility makes it possible to automate residential, commercial, communal or professional installations, avoiding unnecessary switch-ons and ensuring that equipment operates only during the planned time slots.
Reference OB174012 corresponds to the single-circuit DATA LOG version. It incorporates a changeover contact with breaking capacity of 16(10) A at 250 V AC, allowing direct control of different types of loads within the limits established by Orbis.
For applications that need to control two independent circuits, Orbis offers the DATA LOG 2 version, while reference OB174012 is specifically intended for controlling a single circuit.
In addition to conventional fixed-time programming, the Orbis DATA LOG allows different types of switching for more specific automation applications.
The current version of the DATA LOG OB174012 includes Bluetooth 5 LE communication as standard, allowing programming from a compatible smartphone in addition to using the device’s front controls directly.
This connectivity makes it easier to create and modify schedules when the programmer is installed inside the electrical panel and allows its functions to be managed through Orbis-compatible software solutions.
The DATA LOG includes a backlit graphic LCD display that clearly shows the time, programming and circuit status. The unit also displays a daily schedule that makes it easier to visualise the configured operating periods.
Backlighting and contrast adjustment simplify programming and maintenance tasks even when the electrical panel is installed in a poorly lit area.
The programmer allows up to four special annual periods to be defined. These periods can be used to temporarily adapt operation during holidays, festive days, company shutdowns or other dates when the installation’s usual schedule changes.
This means there is no need to delete the usual weekly programming every time an exception occurs in the calendar.
The DATA LOG can automatically switch between summer and winter time according to the selected country. This function can also be disabled when the installation requires a fixed time throughout the year.
The time switch incorporates a replaceable CR2032 3 V 220 mAh battery, intended to preserve the clock and programming when mains power is interrupted.
Current Orbis documentation specifies a backup of up to 5 years with the battery installed and the unit disconnected from the mains, and an estimated battery life of up to 10 years when the time switch remains powered.
Even without an operational battery, the unit has a high-capacity capacitor that can keep the programming stored for approximately 48 hours without power.
The DATA LOG integrates a channel operating hours counter. This function makes it possible to know how long the circuit has remained active and can be especially useful for planning maintenance or monitoring the use of luminaires and other electrical equipment.
To help prevent accidental or unauthorised changes, the programmer has a keypad lock. It also includes a sealable front cover that physically limits access to the controls.
These features are especially useful in residential communities, public buildings, shops, municipal installations and other electrical panels accessible to different people.
The DATA LOG contact offers a breaking capacity of 16(10) A at 250 V AC. The recommended maximum loads depend on the technology of the connected receivers.
Orbis also documents higher capacities for certain electronic loads when zero-cross switching is used. The specific configuration must always be checked and the maximum power indicated by the manufacturer must be respected.
The Orbis DATA LOG is designed for installation on DIN rail and occupies only 2 modules in width. Its dimensions are approximately 35 x 88 x 65 mm, making it easy to integrate alongside the rest of the control and protection devices in the electrical panel.
Connection is made via screw terminals and accepts rigid or flexible conductors with cross-sections between 1 and 6 mm². The maximum tightening torque specified by the manufacturer is 0.8 Nm.
Thanks to its weekly programming, pulse and cycle functions and ability to set special periods, the DATA LOG can be used to automate numerous electrical circuits.
The Orbis DATA LOG OB174012 combines 40 programs, daily and weekly programming, pulses, cycles and four special periods in a single compact programmer. The backlit display and Bluetooth connectivity simplify both initial setup and later schedule changes.
Its backup power, hours counter, keypad lock and 16(10) A changeover contact complete a versatile solution for installations where precise and easily adjustable time control is required.
Important: before connecting any equipment, the current, power and type of load must be checked to comply with the limits established by Orbis. Installation and wiring must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and applicable electrical regulations.
